Safety by the Numbers (below)

Safety by the Numbers

The Monrovia Police Officers’ Association wants people to believe that the City of Monrovia does not hold public safety as a top priority. The facts belie that empty rhetoric.

The City of Monrovia spends $326 per person per year on our Police Department -- $326 for every man, woman and child in the community. Public Safety accounts for approximately 70% of Monrovia’s General Fund Budget, and the Police Department gets the lion’s share of that -- $13.2 million, or 42% of the General Fund Budget.

That’s a greater commitment to funding police services than is made by any other community, save one, on the survey list used by both the City and the Association.
