STREETS DIVISION
The Streets Division is responsible for the cleaning, repairing and preventive maintenance of all City streets and sidewalks to ensure the effective transportation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The Division consists of Streets Division Manager, Street Maintenance Supervisor and two Street Maintenance Lead Workers. The Streets Division maintains 90 miles of streets, 12 miles of alleys, 160 miles of curb and gutters, 2,500,000 square feet of sidewalks, seven City parking lots, all traffic markings such as lanes lines, red curbs and crosswalks, and 5,000 traffic signs. Typical maintenance and repair work includes sealing cracks in the pavement, repairing pot holes, overlaying streets with asphalt, repairing concrete pavement, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. The Streets Divisions also maintains the City-owned storm drain facilities and coordinates their maintenance with the major in Monrovia owned and operated by the Los Angeles County Flood Control District. During the annual rainstorms, Street Division personnel patrol both the City and County owned facilities to assure proper operation of the facilities.
