Monrovia sits along the 210 Freeway, with easy access to Los Angeles, Hollywood, Orange County, Southland beaches, mountain resorts and LAX, Ontario and Burbank Airports.
The community is served by bus systems operated by the Metropolitan Transit Authority and Foothill Transit.
In addition, Monrovia Transit operates within the city with curb-to-curb, on-call service for Monrovia residents and visitors.
The Gold Line Light Rail system now connects the local region to downtown Los Angeles and will be extended through Monrovia in the next several years.
The Old Town Trolley operates afternoons, connecting the offices along Huntington Drive to the shops and restaurants of Old Town, and on Friday and Saturday nights, bringing hotel guests from West Huntington Drive to Old Town's Family Festival, movie theater and restaurants.

MONROVIA TRANSIT MONROVIA TRANSIT provides a great community service with low-cost, curb-to-curb transportation for residents and visitors. The Monrovia Transit vans will take anyone anywhere within the City's service area. All it takes is a call to the dispatch operator at  (626) 358-3538. Monrovia Transit also provides curb-to-curb transportation for County unincorporated residents and visitors anywhere within the City's service area.
SERVICE AREA Monrovia Transit travels anywhere within the city limits and serves specified county areas to the south of the City.
CHILDREN Children under 2 ride free. Children two-years old and over will pay the regular fare of $1 each. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. During the school year, school-age youth are not permitted to use the Transit service weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES All Monrovia Transit vans are lift equipped. If regional transportation is desired, Access Services provides transportation throughout the San Gabriel Valley for persons with disabilities. For more information, call toll free 1-800-827-0829 (TDD 1-800-827-1359).
BEFORE YOU RIDE Monrovia Transit is a shared ride service, so for your convenience remember to:
- Have exact fare ready as drivers will not make change.
- Be prepared to board when the bus arrives as drivers cannot wait more than 90 seconds.
- It is recommended that you call to arrange a ride a minimum of two hours before the time you wish to arrive at your destination.
- You can schedule a ride up to one week in advance.
- Plan for a slightly longer travel time than by private automobile. Buses may make additional stops.
HOURS Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
FARES Seventy-five cents ($.75) for seniors and persons with disabilities. One dollar ($1) for all others.
CALL (626) 358-3538 to arrange a ride. Call takers are available a half-an-hour before the start of service in the morning and half-an-hour before the end of service in the evening.
